The BBC has a special place in many of our hearts - demonstrated in responses to the Government’s recent consultation on the BBC’s Charter. I certainly greatly appreciated learning more about all of the BBC’s work when I was Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.
The Director-General of the BBC has said that there does remain a case for the BBC to be more distinctive, when he set out his plans for the Charter Renewal.
Bearing all of this in mind, the Government will be announcing its proposals in due course.
