A SKIFFLE band will be performing at MP Sajid Javid’s Pensioners Fair next Friday (November 25).
The 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band will take to the stage at Parkside as part of a fund-raising drive by the group for the British Lung Foundation.
The Pensioners Fair takes place between 10am and 1pm,
The Bromsgrove-based band plays an exciting mix of jazz, blues, and folk, and have already raised over £600 for the lung-health charity this year.
Pam Davies, from the band, said: “Playing in our local town is always an honour.
“We’re delighted to have Sajid as one of our fans, and hope we’ll be performing to a full-house, particularly as we’re raising money for such a good cause.”
The band’s founding drummer Johnny Rawson was awaiting a lung transplant for over five-years.
Sadly, earlier this year, he went into hospital with an infection on his only working lung, but did not recover.
In memory of Johnny, The 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band are donating some of their profit from the current tour to the British Lung Foundation.
Kiera Ridge, Community and Events Manager at the British Lung Foundation, added: “We are so grateful and proud of every one of our wonderful supporters.
“The 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band are playing an important part in raising the funds needed to research new treatments and cures, allowing us to provide help to people affected by lung disease.”
