BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has met with Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt amidst concerns over the pressures faced by the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Javid’s meeting followed comments on Monday by Mr Hunt who said the Worcestershire Royal was the hospital he was most worried about following the reported deaths of two patients on trolleys in A&E and the discovery of a patient found hanged on one of its wards.
We also reported last week how three Minor Injuries Units, including Bromsgrove, were shut over new year so staff could be transferred to the Alexandra Hospital and the Worcestershire Royal Hospital to help cope with the demand.
Mr Javid said he was deeply saddened by the news of the patient deaths and added: “My thoughts are with the close friends and families of those affected.
“It’s important now more than ever that we address these local pressures, and I was reassured by the Health Secretary that he recognises the seriousness of this issue.
“As always, improving our local health services for constituents continues to remain my top priority.”
