Tax Avoidance

July 2016

I agree that there is more that can be done to tackle tax avoidance, evasion and other exploitations of the tax system. That is why this government has set up a new task force, with funding of up to £10 million pounds, specifically to tackle tax avoidance.

HMRC over the last few months have been carrying out an investigation of offshore companies and their findings will be acted on swiftly.

At the Anti-Corruption Summit in London this government made it clear that it supports a worldwide commitment to tackling all levels of tax avoidance from large multinational corporations to individuals. As well as this commitment as of this month the UK will be the first country major country to publish its own register of company beneficial ownership, meaning that any citizen can see exactly who the real owners of a company are.
